Jammu & Kashmir is a newly created Union Territory in India consisting of two divisions: Jammu Division & Kashmir Division, both of which are administered by the Central Government of India. It is located to the north of Himachal Pradesh & Punjab and to the west of Ladakh.

The Jammu region has a sub tropical climate and the summer is hot. The temperature starts soaring in the month of March and is at its peak in the month of April. The maximum temperature in summer can go as high as 45 degree Celsius. Kashmir is quite pleasant with the temperature varying from 14 to 30 degree Celsius.

It is the best time to visit Kashmir because the climate is ideal for sightseeing; it is neither too hot nor too cold. The temperature during the day ranges from 15 °C to 30 °C. The mornings are pleasant, making it an ideal time for exploration and long walks.

Over 80 per cent of the surface transport in the state is carried on by roads, while in the Kashmir and Ladakh Divisions roads are the only dominant mode of transportation, carrying about 99% of the people and goods.
